Integrity Education Tidbit: Economic Integrity

If you have been following my work on integrity, you are already aware of the various aspects of integrity I address:

  • Self-Integrity
  • Relationship Integrity
  • Collective Integrity (which includes societal, business and economic integrity)
  • Leadership Integrity (which includes executive, media, and political integrity)

Today’s Integrity Education Tidbit is about what every citizen should know about the economic aspect of Collective Integrity and how politicians and the media continue to sidestep dealing with it.

Integrity Disgrace Award: Sean Hannity

Today’s Integrity Disgrace Award goes to Sean Hannity of Fox News for lack of journalist integrity in pretending to be a journalist while functioning as a propagandist.

Hannity is among a growing number of alleged journalists who consistently select snippets of information that cast those they dislikes in a negative light while completely ignoring similarly distasteful information that would place those they like in a negative light.

Barack Obama and John McCain are Hannity’s latest examples of his utterly irresponsible excuse for journalism.

Integrity Disgrace Award: A Group of California Assembly Members

California is in a major financial crisis, facing a $16 billion budget deficit. Social services are being slashed. Teachers and education professionals are being laid off by the thousands (up to 20,000, according to California Department of Education). Tuition and fees at state universities and colleges are being raised once again.

Integrity Inspiration Award: Barack Obama's "Race" Speech

My Integrity Inspiration Award for March 18, 2008 goes to Barack Obama for his speech about the "race" issue.

I was moved that Obama had the courage to tell it like it is in a balanced and complete way. He refused to sell short himself, his family, his communities, or the American people. In doing this he made it clear that neither issues nor people can or should be simplified into the trite sound bites most media, pundits and politicians have become used to dishing out to the public.

Dr. Gruder's Integrity Disgrace Award: Repressing the Pentagon's Report About Saddam Hussein and al Qaeda

Not to be upstaged by the Spitzer incident, the White House had re-focused attention back on itself through its own lack of political integrity.

ABC News’ Jonathan Karl reports: "The Bush administration apparently does not want a US military study that found no direct connection between Saddam Hussein and al Qaeda to get any attention. This morning, the Pentagon canceled plans to send out a press release announcing the report’s release and will no longer make the report available online."

Let the ‘Unintegrity Games’ begin!

Now that Governor Spitzer has resigned in disgrace, let the ‘Unintegrity Games’ begin!

Was news of his lack of integrity leaked because of political motivation to bring him down? Or was a rumor about such a conspiracy started in order to cloud the issues even further?

Governor Spitzer Resigns: Has He Gone Too Far?

Governor Spitzer’s resignation today illustrates how social crusaders with significant personal or relationship integrity deficits can crash and burn in an instant. This is why the man once dubbed "Crusader of the Year" earned my Political Integrity Disgrace Award for March 10, 2008 in that entry in my IntegrityWatch Blog.

Is Governor Eliot Spitzer a Hypocritical Integrity Crusader?

The New York Times reported today that New York Governor Eliot Spitzer has told senior advisers he had been involved in a prostitution ring.

This news would not make it into my IntegrityWatch Blog were it not for the fact that Spitzer built his political legacy on rooting out corruption from Wall Street to prostitution rings. Time magazine had named him "Crusader of the Year" when he was attorney general and the tabloids proclaimed him "Eliot Ness."

A Paradoxical Vision of Relationship Integrity

Is it possible for a heterosexual man to have four important women in his life and for his wife to feel he has deeper relationship integrity because of this?

Which Presidential Candidate is the Best Hypnotist?

Brian Alman, Ph.D., an internationally renowned hypnotherapist with whom I went to graduate school three decades ago, posted an interesting blog about hypnotic inductions that each of the major presidential candidates use.
